e0a70f72bdae9885bfc32d7cd19a26a1 MThe Human Trainer Rotational Pulley harnesses your own body weight to provide resistance during exercise and engages the body’s stabilizer muscles to keep the body centered during movements. Training with a rotational pulley recruits more muscles during each exercise to build core strength and endurance, which can be then used to improve sport performance in any sport such as

Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

These 5 exercises using The HT Rotational Pulley are designed for all fitness levels and will help you develop the muscular strength, endurance and core stability to take your SUP (Stand Up Paddling) to a new level of paddling speed, control and balance.

1) Chest Press

pastedGraphic 1A

The Chest Press exercise will develop your upper body strength and conditioning to help propel you faster through the water. With every repetition, your shoulder stabilizer muscles will be challenged leading to a stronger and more stable paddling stroke. The midline of the body must remain centered with each movement, which will help simulate remaining balanced and centered on your SUP board.

2) Alternating Power Pull

pastedGraphic 2

The Alternating Power Pull exercise simulates a one-arm rowing movement, which develop the arm and back muscles used in a SUP stroke. The core is activated on every repetition, as your body stays aligned and centered while the arms are initiating the movement.

This exercise will help to develop paddling strength and conditioning as well as core stability for more confidence when standing on the SUP in all conditions.

3) Standing Frontal Straight Arm Swing

pastedGraphic 3

The Standing Frontal Straight Arm Swing will help develop the flexibility and range of motion that is used in the Forward Stroke in SUP boarding. The goal is to keep both arms straight as you hinge from the hips and work to align both arms directly above each other.

This is a great core exercise as it simulates keeping the ability to keep your midsection braced while your upper body is actively moving.

4) Two Leg Squat & Alternating Straight Arm Twist

The Two Leg Squat & Alternating Straight Arm Twist exercise is a compound movement linking the lower body and upper body together. This exercise will help develop flexibility in the hips and legs and increase (ROM) range of motion in the upper body, namely the shoulders and chest, which are required when performing a Sweep Stroke to turn the SUP board. The squat will build your lower body strength,

which is needed for the ability to stand up on the board from a kneeling position.

5) Foot Cradle Two Knee Tuck

pastedGraphic 5

The Foot Cradle Two Knee Tuck is a suspended core exercise that will increase upper body strength and shoulder stabilization as your body remains in a stable high plank position. With both feet suspended in the foot cradles you will draw both knees into the chest improving flexibility of the hips and improving core strength and conditioning which will help with greater paddling torque providing more speed on the water with less effort.

Rita Catolino: Certified Personal Trainer, Online Transformation Coach, Fitness Expert https://www.thehumantrainer.com/rita-catalino/ https://www.thehumantrainer.com/rita-catalino/#respond Fri, 31 May 2013 07:00:00 +0000 http://thehumantrainer.com/rita-catalino/

Rita Catolino is an online fitness coach, certified personal trainer, motivational speaker, fitness competitor, fitness model, fitness column writer for OXYGEN MAGAZINE, AND a Human Trainer Featured User.

You may recognize Rita Catalino from appearing with us on Dragon’s Den, or maybe you’ve read her interview in Genetic War? Either way she is an inspiration.

Rita made a major life change over 6 years ago with the birth of her daughter, losing over 35 lbs by making healthier choices for her body and her family. These life changes resulted in huge accomplishments such as placing top-5 twice at the Arnold Sports Festival, and being on the cover of the Fall Fat Loss Oxygen Special.  Rita says her greatest accomplishment within the industry is having had the honor to coach her mentor, Tosca Reno.

She enjoys a wide variety of training, including functional training, resistance training, interval training, and especially working with The Human Trainer.

1. How long have you been using the Human Trainer, and what results have you noticed in that time?

I was introduced to the Human trainer over 1 year ago.  I love how it incorporates the core as well as recruits many of the smaller supporting muscles which tend to get left out in typical isolation bodybuilding workouts.  I have noticed more definition and more of a sweat during my training.

2. In what ways do you use the Human Trainer?

I use it at home for core movements such as moving planks, mountain climbers, pikes etc.  I also love it for plyometrics. The height I get on my jump squats in incredible. The Human Trainer has helped tremendously with my stability and flexibility as well.

3. What would you say to someone considering getting a Human Trainer?

You need one! Don’t think twice.  It will help with strength, flexibility, agility and balance. Try doing a one legged squat on it! Hard!! Great for all levels. It is defiantly multi-leveled!

4. How have you, or how could you, use the Human Trainer to reach your next goals?

It is great to break through a plateau. Use it for metabolic circuits which are great for getting leaner and tighter.

5. Where do you use the Human Trainer? Have you used it indoors and outdoors?

I use it in my basement, and recently took it on vacation to Europe. It is easy to pack away and hooks on to the door in a second. My husband has started using it as well.  I will give it a try outdoors this summer.  Workout and tan at the same time:)

6. What do you like most about the Human Trainer?

It isn’t cumbersome. Easy to bring along and you feel your body doing the work. It is a great compliment to the heavy weights.  I incorporate it 2 times a week in my workouts.

Nikol Klein: Ballet Dancer, Women’s Trainer, Human Trainer Featured User https://www.thehumantrainer.com/nikol-klein/ https://www.thehumantrainer.com/nikol-klein/#respond Tue, 26 Mar 2013 07:00:00 +0000 http://thehumantrainer.com/nikol-klein/

As a women’s fitness expert and professional ballet dancer, Nikol Klein prides herself on knowing all the tricks and techniques it takes for women to get the lean, toned, bulk-free bodies they’re after.  One of these “tricks” happens to be using The Human Trainer Suspension Gym.

Nikol has been using The Human trainer with her clients in San Diego for a little over a year now.

Here’s what she had to say:

In what ways do you use the Human Trainer?

I use the traditional Human Trainer device mostly for stretching and abdominal conditioning. My favorite component is the rotational pulley that I attach a kettle-bell to one end and handles to the other. I use the pulley for triceps, rows, hamstring curls, and even ballet strengthening exercises with my dancer clients.

What would you say to someone considering getting a Human Trainer?

I think that they Human Trainer is a great investment for your home gym. It’s portable, takes up very little space, and can give you an effective all over body workout using just your body weight!

How have you, or how could you, use the Human Trainer to reach your next goals?

I think the Human Trainer is great for people of all ages and capabilities. I use the traditional device a lot with my clients who have limitations such as knee or back problems. It adds just enough support in a squat for example, to keep the strain off of the joints. It is also a fun way to introduce strength training to kids who aren’t ready to lift weights.

What do you like most about the Human Trainer?

The unlimited options of the rotational pulley! I am always looking for new exercises so I set up my pulley device to do lots of ballet leg conditioning.
